The biggest opportunity we have ever had as a nation sits squarely on our shoulders for the next 3 weeks. It is confusing, upsetting, and terrifying and that does not begin to describe how it really feels. We can make headway through a lot of traps we have set for ourselves but we still have much to learn.
The cards show we have the opportunity to walk away from what is not real. The blinders are off, finally, and we begin to see that we need to rearrange our place in the world. The idea of fixing ourselves and not something outside of ourselves takes hold. If we could just start to see ourselves as stewards and not owners we will have conquered the largest part of ego, that same ego that seems to have had a huge hand in creating the problems we have in the first place.
The number 8 is prominent in the reading as well as the suit of Coins, not surprising. 8 is a money number, it also indicates a connection between the above and below, or the internal and the external. It reads for me as a point of crossing or indicates a crossroads. In this instance a crossroads for consciousness. We are fast approaching a split not between the haves and the have-not's but between the ego identified and the ego aware. 8 in the tarot is linked to the Magician card, the Strength card and the Chariot card.
If you are tied into psychological time, as Eckhart Tolle calls it, or tied into ego, identifying with the outer world totally and not accepting the inner world, then this is a point in existence where opportunities to shift away from ego begin to wane. The longer we stay tied into ego with no attempt to recognize the power inside us, the more real that ego becomes and along with it depression, fear, anxiety, violence, abuse, addiction, slavery. It becomes more and more difficult to find your way back. Any addict will tell you so.
So start with yourself and stop reacting to the discussion outside of you (that includes the chattering in the mind) and start responding and acting toward the life inside you and watch your circumstances change. “Things” don't matter during a hurricane but people's lives do—aren't we in the middle of the biggest hurricane you've ever seen?
The final weeks before the election will be down right bizarre.
Don't spend it all in one place.

Thoughts About Personal Evolution
Evolution doesn't have an end. It it a continuous event. It is happening all the time. Right now, as we read this, we are evolving. Evolution is not closed like a circle but twisted like a spiral. It is dimensional and not flat and linear.
Evolution happens in layers. There is personal evolution, as in your soul's development. There is familial evolution, a nation's evolution, the general evolution of mankind. Evolution supports change and disintegrates stagnant, static notions or processes. Ego can get in the way but then that would be part of the evolutionary process.
Consider that everything around us is a manifestation of our evolution. We are either building something up or tearing something down, something is forming or something is disintegrating, someone is born or someone is dieing.
Disintegration is a signal telling us it is time to shift and make changes. Disintegration can happen over long periods of time or can happen during the time it takes to drive home from the grocery market. Disintegration and creating happen simultaneously, they can intertwine in their development.
Consider your own evolution. What if personal evolution was marked by the ability to answer certain questions or to respond in a particular way? What if the questions and responses were unknown to you so your ego couldn't manipulate them? What if they were unknown to all of us in general? What if being able to evolve in this manner had a cumulative effect meaning that each individual's ability to evolve forward (in other words create and disintegrate) pushed the whole of humanity forward or stagnated it? I believe this happens underneath the surface of our outward appearance. Our pure and higher self handles this for us because in the hands of the ego, none of this would take place.
So, how do you know where you are on the road of evolution? The answer is you don't and to put a label on yourself as being of a certain “rank” is a stagnate, static response. The other answer is you can know you are in the right place at the right time—that's what synchronicity is and those moments of clarity. They are pure points of contact with our divine nature.
Happy Evolving!

The Popularity of Change
Change is in the air...I love the idea so much and for some reason I think I can get around the actual doing of it every time. I figure that the idea of letting go and the process of change must invoke the worst aspects of falling, hence it's lack of popularity. And so while we like the idea of being free enough to let go and make change, we recoil at the idea of hitting the ground at some point. Talking about letting go and actually experiencing it appear to be two different things. Or am I perceiving out of fear?
Humans love to scream and holler about letting go and making change and the very definite need we have for it at this point in history. In reality very few of us are willing to actually go through the process of letting go of old, outdated ideas. Yours truly included. And yet, when I have finally let go, the experience has always turned out for the better. I have never had the experience of actually hitting the ground. Instead, I creatively rearrange for the better and move on.
I believe "letting go" takes practice and so I encourage each one of you to identify something that you need to let go of (Spending money you don't have, i.e. using credit cards, is not letting go of outdated ideas. Neither is shooting your partner.) and begin the process of letting go. Listen to the chatter in your head and be objective about the process. Conflict and confusion are part of letting go.
My latest tool for points of conflict and confusion is the Hermit card. This lone figure stands atop the same mountain the Fool so happily strolls off of or should I say falls off of. The Hermit represents all those who have gone before us and holds the energy of experience, perspective and accomplishment. Holding the lantern of the light of wisdom, the Hermit beckons us forward, lighting the way.
Next time you are faced with conflict and need a bit of relief from the mental and emotional struggle, allow the image of the Hermit to pop into your consciousness. Recognize your patterns and allow the moment to pass. Most importantly, trust what comes, even if it is a separation or an ending. Just let go of it and dedicate yourself to the next layer of understanding. Get yourself reorganized and then move on to another topic, another day, another moment.
